I have cerebral palsy and dyslexia and have lived with these conditions for my whole life. My biggest obstacles are fear, misunderstanding and denial, both from my point of view and other people. Only recently I have come to realise how I’ve been in denial.
Having joined the Arcadis Disability Workstream, I realised how I have been scared to talk about my disability and the affect it has on me. Now I feel empowered to use my experience and share my story to raise awareness and give others the confidence to talk about their disability, or for people to not be afraid to ask questions.
This experience has enlightened me and made me feel more comfortable in my own skin, and the company I work in. This is an on-going journey for me and one that I am excited to go on.
Kelley has since left Arcadis and now works at The Royal College of Pathologists.
