I have been at the firm now for seven years, I currently work in the Central Audit support team and previously worked in the Finance team. I also had a great opportunity to complete a year and half secondment with the Ethics and Independence team. In all my roles, KPMG has been able support me by making adjustments to my role to allow me to perform at my best and focus on my strengths.
How has KPMG supported you with your disability?
KPMG put my mind at ease and reassured me that they were here to help and provided me with an opportunity to complete Occupational Health and workplace adjustment assessments. Through this I found out not only do I have a learning disability, but I am also Neurodivergent. The positive conclusion to the report was that they provided recommendations to support me with my role and the scope to adjust to build up my confidence.
I knew KPMG was the place for me as my managers have supported me with adjustments and allocating tasks that suit my strengths. I have also had Co-Coaching sessions with my performance manager and Genius Within. My managers understand that I am neurodivergent and are always very supportive, assisting with both work and personal issues.
What other support do KPMG offer outside of your working role?
Outside of my day-to-day work, I have had the opportunity and continue to be part of various communities at KPMG (Neurodiversity, BeMindful and Social Mobility), which have also helped me to develop my confidence. Within the networks, I chair various meetings and chats. I have therefore been able to help others, by sharing my experiences. I am passionate about sharing the support that is available to both current and potential KPMG colleagues.
I am also a Security Champion, and that involves sharing important Information Security to the whole firm. I was approached by a senior individual in the department after I posted security advice on various internal platforms.
What tips would you give to someone with a disability interested in applying to KPMG?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions around what suitable adjustments you may require. If you are unsure, the recruitment team are available to support you through this.
