Disability and workplace support: Requesting what you require
Workplace adjustments are designed to help everyone do their best work and feel supported in their role.
Employers want to be inclusive and supportive. However, barriers sometimes do exist in the workplace and workplace environments don’t always suit everyone. Providing adjustments and support are one of the ways employers can support employees with disabilities or long-term health conditions to work comfortably and effectively.
Although employers may actively encourage their employees to request the support they require, it’s completely natural to feel unsure about asking for support. You might wonder how it will be received or worry about standing out, however having the right adjustments in place can make a positive difference to how confident and capable you feel at work.
“MyPlus has helped me significantly in my journey, whether that’s by being confident about myself and my disability, or practically by supporting me in communicating my needs to recruiters and colleagues.” Giulia, University of Law
