Disability & recruitment support: Requesting what you require
Recruitment processes are designed to assess candidates under pressure—but without the right support, they can become inaccessible for disabled students. That’s why adjustments exist: to make sure everyone has a fair chance to succeed.
Most employers don’t intentionally create barriers, but they recognise that parts of the process may disadvantage people with a disability or health condition. Offering adjustments is their way of levelling the playing field—so that all candidates can show their true potential.
That said, asking for support can feel daunting. You might worry it will affect how you’re seen, or that it’s a burden—but not requesting what you need could stop you from progressing in roles you’re fully capable of doing.
“MyPlus has helped me significantly in my journey, whether that’s by being confident about myself and my disability, or practically by supporting me in communicating my needs to recruiters and colleagues.” Giulia, University of Law
