'MyPlus is being able to inspire others to be the best version of themselves.’ Emma - Autoimmune diseases.
When I was around 14, I was diagnosed with two different autoimmune diseases and my energy levels were the most affected, limiting what I felt I would be able to do with my life and making me constantly tired and/or in pain. I was unsure of my future and felt a little lost as to what was going to happen to me going forward.
When I began to come to terms with my illness, albeit, it took a number of years to accept the ‘new’ me, I started seeing my disability as a plus and something I should be proud of, rather than hiding away from. I use my disability to push me to achieve more and see it as a part of my character which I should be confident in sharing with others.
I am now in my second year of a Business and Human Resource Management degree at Anglia Ruskin University and regularly speak in front of students both inside and outside of the university (something I was previously terrified of doing), inspiring them to get involved with every opportunity they can and really make the most of their time.
