About Us

At Mayer Brown, we view the attainment of a diverse and inclusive workplace at all levels of our organisation as critical to, and a natural result of, building a cohesive, successful law firm.

We’re one of the world’s largest full service law firms with locations in 24 major cities across the Americas, Asia, Europe and the Middle East. As one of the first firms to develop a global platform, we’re an international leader.

To ensure our firm is accessible, we work with organisations such as Aspiring Solicitors, Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO), My Plus Consulting, the Social Mobility Foundation and Stonewall. It’s these partnerships that help us ensure our recruitment processes are made available to everyone and encourage people from a wide range of backgrounds to join us. We also operate a blind CV policy to avoid any unconscious bias during the recruitment process and our offices are fully accessible.

Did you know?

Mayer Brown is committed to diversity and inclusion because it is the right thing to do and because it makes sound business sense. Diversity and inclusion broadens our knowledge and skills, heightens our awareness of and sensitivity to cultural issues and empowers us to respond to the challenges of serving a clientele that spans the globe.

Tips for applying

Our recruitment process involves an online application, online verbal reasoning and situational judgement tests and an assessment day, which will include an interview as well as a number of group and individual assessments. Here are some tips to remember when you apply to us:

  • You don’t need to have studied law to be a lawyer. In fact, a large percentage of our trainees come from non-law backgrounds and in some cases, even non-law careers. See the list of competencies we look for on the next page.
  • Your experience is different and valuable to us. At Mayer Brown, we value and encourage diversity – it’s critical to our success as an international law firm. That’s why there isn’t a particular ‘type’ of trainee here – our training pool is representative of our global firm.
  • Be open about your disability. We are a Disability Confident committed employer and will ensure appropriate adjustments are made where necessary during the process. We would strongly encourage you to apply to our programmes and disclose your disability.

Your Plus

To succeed with us, you’ll have to demonstrate a drive for results, and an ability to analyse, with good judgement. Here are other competencies we recruit for:

  • Innovative mind
  • Wide range of extracurricular interests and achievements
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Recruitment Adjustments

We would encourage you to be open with our graduate recruitment team so they can make the necessary adjustments to our recruitment processes. Any conversations you have with the team about a disability will be treated as confidential.
