Physical Disability
At PwC, our purpose is to build trust in society and solve important problems. It is this focus which informs the services we provide and the decisions we make.
We respect and value differences. We know that when people from different backgrounds and with different points of view work together, we create the most value – for our clients, our people and society.
We are committed to empowering and enabling our disabled applicants and colleagues to be the best they can be, and we make adjustments in both the recruitment process and the workplace.
We also have a number of workplace initiatives and networks focused on building an inclusive and supportive culture where individuals and teams can thrive.
DAWN, our Disability Awareness Network, aims to raise awareness around differences, including; physical and learning disabilities, mental health conditions, and longer term health issues, by holding events, offering mentor relationships, and running communication campaigns. The network assists in enabling our people to realise their full potential.
DAWN is for everyone, whether you’re affected personally, support a colleague, relative or friend, or you simply want to find out more.
Our network of Wellbeing Champions is a group of over 300 volunteers who support our Be Well, Work Well wellbeing programme, as part of ensuring our people’s wellbeing stays central to our culture. The community regularly shares resources and organises events in support of wellbeing, such as Darkness to Light Walks for mental health awareness.

We want to use our position and profile as a large employer to change perceptions of disability and mental health.
In raising the profile of disability, we want to bring together people who think differently and who have had different life experiences. This encourages diversity of thought and can lead to innovations – our diverse workforce makes us a better firm.
The Employers Network For Equality and Inclusion (ENEI) has awarded PwC Gold standard in their Talent Inclusion & Diversity Evaluation benchmarking

We understand that applying for roles can be both exciting and challenging, and you may have questions about the application process. We’ve aimed to make our process as straightforward as possible, and provide guidance to help answer any questions.
We’re looking for talent from all backgrounds, and we don’t base any decisions on personal characteristics like disability. In fact, we recognise the many strengths that disabled people can bring to the workplace based on their experiences, such as adaptability, resilience and creativity.
Here is our key advice on making an application:
Be open – We will give you the opportunity to share any adjustment needs you have when applying, and we’d encourage you to be open about what you need so we can support you to thrive.
Reflect on your strengths – We recommend thinking about your strengths and personal qualities and how they align to the PwC Professional, our framework for assessing and developing all our people.
Look at our guidance – We have information and a number of hints and tips on our website, aimed at helping you prepare your application:
Our Employability Hub – for e-learn tools on applications, video interviews, and assessment days
We’ve designed our process to be as inclusive and barrier-free as possible, for example building extra time and the ability to take breaks into our assessment day.
We will also make adjustments to remove any barriers you may face during recruitment, and in the workplace.
We know it can feel like a big step to share your needs with an employer, but we will treat anything you share with us in complete confidence. We only need to understand how you are impacted by the barriers you face so that we can make the right adjustments, and we won’t ask you any personal questions about your condition.
There is more information on applying with a disability on our website, and we’ve set out some key information on what to expect below:
We recognise that adjustments can be as varied as the individuals who need them, and that no two needs are the same. However, here are some examples of adjustments we have made, to give you an idea of what is possible:
At PwC, we’re creating a workplace where disabled people feel empowered and are enabled to fulfill their potential. We’re developing a disability strategy as part of our diversity and inclusion work, upskilling our people on making adjustments, and have committed to advancing through the Government’s Disability Confident scheme.
We know that people can have different needs in recruitment and in the workplace, so when you accept an offer of employment with us we’ll ask you to confirm any adjustments you need for the workplace (including any professional qualifications you may be taking).
We’ll discuss your adjustments with you before joining as far as possible and we’ll always fully collaborate with you on any support to be put into place.
Our approach of Everyday Flexibility means that you’ll be able to work in a way that meets your needs, as well as the needs of your business area. For example, you might be able to flex your commute times to avoid rush hour, or work from home on days when you need to concentrate. All employees are given a laptop and phone to help them be flexible.
We have a central cross-team IT Workplace Adjustments group who can help get you the equipment you need to carry out your role successfully, such as ergonomic hardware or assistive software, and our on-site Tech Lounges offer demos of different products.
