How did you get started in your career and what drew you to Lloyds?

I had two offers on the table – Lloyds and Kier Group. What swayed me was the personal approach during recruitment in terms of adjustments for my disability. I was also attracted by the opportunity to progress and the trusted banking heritage of Lloyds.

What surprised me was how positive the Group were about disability.

I wanted to work for large organisation with security, opportunity, management development and a role where I could get a foot in the door and progress. At the time working close to home in a Retail Branch also appealed to me.

How do you manage your disability at work?

Flexible working allows me to work when and how I need to.

How has your employer helped you to do well at your workplace?

Good managers have given me multiple opportunities and helpful feedback. I am often seeking forgiveness rather than permission!

What advice or top tips would you offer?

Change is constant so get used to it and you will control your future rather than it being pre-determined.

What has been your proudest moment since starting work?

Being recognised by branch colleagues showed customer service is at the heart of what we do. I survived three restructures which I think shows broad experience and skills, and I’ve also won awards externally for my work – which shows I know my stuff!

How do you manage a work-life balance?

I love football and my income allows me to have a season ticket and attend matches.
